The Chevron Electrical Power Designs Engineer will be a member of the Richmond Refinery Instrumentation and Electrical Designs Engineering Team, providing electrical power and distribution designs support.
The Electrical Power Engineer plays a key role supporting the Refinery's mission to operate safely, reliably, predictably, and profitably.
This involves taking a lead role in understanding and evaluating electrical system performance, working closely with Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot equipment, and following through with proactive design and execution of engineering work packages, engineering analysis and project deliverables.
The Electrical Power Engineer role will provide support on equipment including power distribution systems, motor controls, switch gear, UPS systems, and substations.
The Electrical Power Engineer may also serve as a local Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical power and, as such, will mentor and guide I&E engineers through troubleshooting and lower complexity projects.
This role reports to the I&E Team Lead within the Plant Support Designs Engineering Department.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide electrical engineering support for routine daily operation of process units within the refinery.
Support requires collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to partner with Operations, Maintenance and Technical functions within the global refining system.
Provide electrical engineering support for facility-wide electrical infrastructure improvement initiatives that require collaboration and leadership skills necessary to partner with multiple stakeholders.
Sphere of influence ranges from working with Operations personnel in the field on a specific piece of equipment to partnering with technical personnel at the Manufacturing level to improve Chevron performance, operation, reliability, and safety across all Chevron refineries.
Provide active field support working with Operations and other technical teams to scope electrical power repairs and troubleshoot issues in process plants.
Solutions often include the development and selection of alternatives considering reliability, total cost of ownership, operability and HSE impacts.
Support implementation of solutions through Routine Maintenance, Turnaround execution and project construction and startup.
Develop and manage Engineering Work Orders for larger projects and install or replace complex equipment such as motor controls and substations.
Develop purchase specifications for engineered electrical equipment ensuring that the equipment meets company and industry standards and manage the technical fabrication and factory acceptance testing requirements for procuring equipment.
Provide guidance for technical inquiries, issue technical recommendations, provide equipment and system troubleshooting, improve I&E Engineering tools and support the development and improvement of I&E Engineering work processes.
Perform and support various technical studies to improve plant safety, reliability, throughput and economics.
Provide engineering analysis, consultation and project management for small electrical power capital projects.
Provide mentorship and guidance to develop I&E engineers, partnering with them to resolve equipment and project related issues.
Review and approve Engineering Work Orders of varying complexity, size, and scope.
Be a role model for the Chevron Way and Chevron's safety culture.
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering2+ years of electrical power engineering experience is required.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering highly preferred.
Greater than 2 years of oil & gas complex process facilities experience (refining, chemical plant, LNG, etc).
Understanding refinery processes and equipment and the interaction between refinery units is preferred.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $112,200- $ 221,900.
The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
