Visual Information Specialist

This is a Career-Seasonal position. Career-seasonal positions include all the benefits of permanent employment, but do not provide employment on a year-round basis. The salary information listed reflects a full year. The season for this position is expected to last from February until the end of January. You can expect to be in nonpay status for one payperiod at the beginning of February each year. As a Visual Information Specialist, your major duties will include:
Serve as COTR for media projects; work with contracting office to write contracts and prepare scope of work to define the work activities, deliverables, and timeline that a vendor must execute in performance of a media project. Work directly with a variety of contractors, including digital media technicians, exhibit fabricators, graphic designers, artists, and cartographers to coordinate the design, creation, fabrication and installation of media products in a variety of formats. Provide a wide variety of visual and audio production services to all park divisions, networks, and associations using nationally established guidelines. Serve as Park Webmaster; maintain and develop multiple park websites, and cultivate social media presence in collaboration with park partners and subject matter experts. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
designing and developing layouts of visual materials for publications, exhibits, and/or presentations; coordinating, managing or directing interpretive media projects such as site bulletins and exhibits; developing long-range interpretive program plans; knowledge of Content Management System (CMS) and developing and managing internet content; developing and implementing social media content; or other similar work. EDUCATION:
At least three full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education, a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly-related field such as commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Course work in fields other than those specified above may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in this position. Experience:
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, I have 6 months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and (45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours) of directly-related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
